Waukesha County Technical College is Hiring a Teacher Near Pewaukee, WI

Description

Provide education, care and a quality early learning environment for children of staff, students, and community members who are between six weeks to ten years of age aligned with best practice, state licensing rules and regulatory and accreditation standards. Provide education, support, and guidance for students who are interested in the field of Early Childhood Education (ECE).

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate with Early Childhood Faculty while mentoring, assisting, and evaluating Early Childhood Education practicum students on their implementation of best practices in curriculum, assessments and child/teacher interactions in compliance with state licensing rules, regulations, and standards.
2. Implement and oversee that ECE best practices are being implemented in connection to National Accreditation standards and expectations. Ensure state health and safety licensing regulations are consistently followed throughout the Child Development Center.
3. Assess children's development within classroom and customize activities and environments to meet children's individual needs and abilities. Build family relationships, and communicate with families through formal parent/teacher conferences twice a year, weekly emails, and newsletters regarding child's development and milestone goal building.
4. Build community relationships through participation in fundraising and family events which support and promote the Child Development Center, Learning Lab, and the Early Childhood Education profession.
5. Monitor and assist the work of WCTC ECE student workers and practicum students.
6. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional ongoing education and trainings.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of theories and principles of childhood growth and development from birth through 10 years of age.
  • Knowledge on Early Childhood Education curriculum and Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards.
  • Knowledge of child behavior and WI Pyramid Model Practices.
  • Knowledge of first aid, safety, sanitation and nutrition pertaining to Early Childhood Education standards of best practice.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills in speaking, writing and listening.
  • Ability to plan and organize creative activities that support children's individual development in physical, cognitive, social/emotional, & language/literacy domains of development.
  • Ability to organize and schedule work priorities effectively and to train and provide direction to other staff and students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with children, parents and other staff.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Two year Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  2. Two years of experience providing early education and care as a lead teacher.
  3. Two year of experience in working with children 2 years of age or younger preferred; with a minimum of 10 hours of training in infant and toddler care.
Supplemental Information

The Teacher supports the Early Childhood Education department and is available to start on/or before April 15th.
